At present, sustainability reporting is not universally mandatory in South Africa. Most organisations report on sustainability voluntarily, often driven by investor expectations, stakeholder pressure, or alignment with global best practice.
Data management in Endura focuses on four main areas, namely accuracy, security, consistency and reliability. Each of these areas is governed by defined standards e.g. IFRS SS2, TCFD, GHG Protocol and CDP guides quality (which includes accuracy, completeness and consistency), while ISO standards and internal Endura policies informs data security. Endura further complies with both POPIA and GDPR when handling PI data across the platform. The customer (data owner) controls what is shared with other parties in the platform. Reliability is handled by the platform architecture which employs ACID transactions, data segregation and replication.
The scoring methodology was developed for FirstRand by an international sustainability consulting firm in conjunction with the IFC. Validated by EY.
